What is Pelvic Floor therapy?
Pelvic floor therapy is aimed at targeting dysfunction with the pelvic floor muscles. Pelvic floor muscles support our urinary and reproductive tracts and allow us to maintain continence of bladder and bowels, and to participate in sexual health.

Meet Ruthie
Meet Ruthie Yates, First Priority’s occupational therapist who works in pelvic health. Ruthie graduated from Mary Baldwin University with her doctorate in occupational therapy. Since graduation, Ruthie has gained experience working with both adults and pediatrics, working with individuals aged from 2-99. Ruthie’s post-graduate education includes coursework with the Herman and Wallace Institute, Core Exercise Solutions, Pelvic Powerhouse, the Functional Pelvis, Essential Pelvic Health, and Kids Bowel & Bladder. Ruthie is a Pregnancy and Postpartum Corrective Exercise Specialist (PCES) and has taken coursework in assessing and treating pelvic floor dysfunction.
Ruthie currently offers in-home pelvic floor therapy for women and in the future will be expanding services to children. Ruthie is able to meet you where you feel most comfortable to assist you with reaching your goals and returning to the activities you enjoy. Occupational therapists take a holistic approach to address both emotional and physical factors when working with our clients. We use a strengths based approach to work with our clients to achieve their goals.
